Connecting with Black Culture

How do I navigate my culture in various spaces?

Quote with photo on Black Culture.

I grew up in the most diverse county in the United States of America: Queens, New York. I engaged with classmates, neighbors, colleagues and friends of as many different backgrounds as you can imagine. I spent the first 40+ years of my life in NYC. Fast forward to 2018, I get married and I move to Central New York. It was my first experience living in a region that I do not consider to be diverse. I experiences microaggressions and other types of bias almost immediately. While I understood racism and the concept of “other”, in four decades of life I had never truly experienced it. I was now a fish out of water trying to swim.
